In both the alternatives, risk of flow separation and consequent cavitation damage to the divide walls and spillway surface, particularly on the convex side, is immi- nent.
Cavitation damage to the spillway surface was reported for small discharges.
However, no cavitation damage was ob- served in such type of buckets.
Detailed studies have indicated that during such operation, cavitation damage to teeth could have taken place.
